Paul Elmstrand Smile Project

Photo of Paul ElmstrandThe Paul Elmstrand Smile Project honors the legacy of our hometown hero, Paul Elmstrand, by providing free, comprehensive braces treatment to a deserving individual who is committed to giving back to their community. This unique opportunity follows a pay-it-forward approach—each year, one recipient (age 11 or older) will receive full orthodontic care, including braces, adjustments, and retainers at no cost. In return, they will design and complete a 40-hour community service project that positively impacts their community, reflecting the kindness and dedication Paul showed throughout his life.

Paul Elmstrand grew up in North Branch, where he was actively involved in 4-H, Joy Lutheran Church, cross country running, Isanti County Explorers, and ROC. He had a passion for hunting, showing cattle, trap shooting, and lending a hand at Rod’s Berry Farm. Paul later served as a Burnsville Police Officer and a proud member of the Burnsville Police Honor Guard. Tragically, his life was cut short in the line of duty on February 18, 2024, while doing what he loved—serving his community.

Through this project, we aim not only to provide a life-changing smile but also to inspire a ripple effect of generosity and service – just as Paul did.
